When I read Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s latest (and brilliant book), The End of Dieting, I knew I had to have him on a Facebook livestream! I was so delighted to finally read a book about nutrition, which is not only simple to follow, but that makes absolute sense to everyone. At last a book that doesn’t espouse an extreme way of eating. A book that is deliciously plant-based & protective against disease. Because, my friends, we have fallen into a strange culture of extremes, especially when it comes to nutrition. I’ve noticed “experts” cropping up here there and everywhere (often with best-selling books), who promise all kinds of miracles, but with little scientific evidence to back them up. And honestly, some of the more trendy diets that are currently circulating, are downright dangerous (the Paleo diet…hello!!!!).

Dr. Fuhrman talks sensibly about a “Nutritarian” approach to food, where you aim to get most of your nutrients from a delicious, mostly plant-based diet. As I said, he keeps it really simple. I absolutely LOVE his G- BOMBS: Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushroom, Berries, Seeds/Nuts – to repair the body’s hormones and cells, to protect against breast cancer, and to jump-start weight loss (If that’s what you need to do).

One of the many things I like about Dr. Fuhrman’s philosophy is that he advises to get as many of your micronutrients from whole foods as you can. He says this is especially true in the case of the following Vitamins:

  • Folic Acid
  • Vitamin A and Beta-carotene
  • Vitamin E
  • Selenium

Dr. Fuhrman has created his own specially formulated supplement for breast cancer prevention, Immune Biotect, which includes all the different compounds that I try to take on a daily basis. But, he makes it so easy with this supplement. Trust me, you don’t want to be messing around trying to find all these exotic mushrooms…much easier to have it all with in one supplement.

I am obsessed with his DHA/Fatty Acid Supplement. It’s 100% vegan – not easy to find this kind of supplement that will supply you with all the fatty acids you need in a clean, non-toxic, vegan form.

His salad dressings are to-die-for, and very unique because they’re formulated with nuts. I need to have a permanent supply of his Almond Balsamic Dressing.
