5 Miracle Foods We Love

Miracle Foods We Love

It’s so exciting that we can now easily add super foods to our diets. What are “super” foods? They are usually fruits, berries or seeds that have a ridiculously high nutrient content. You can sprinkle them on oatmeal or cereal, use them in baking, or blend them into smoothies.

Here are 5 we love:

Chia Seeds: This is a desert seed that comes from the Salvia plant from South America. Most of have heard of those weird “Chia Pets” that grow grassy heads, but it’s the seed that is the thing we want to eat. It is very rich in Omega 3 fatty acids (more so than flax seeds). They also contain a high amount of fiber, vitamins and minerals. They are pretty tasteless, so can easily be added to cookies, oatmeal and smoothies.

Goji Berries: This looks like a small, rust-colored raisin. It’s also known as the wolfberry and comes from China. This tiny berry is very rich in the carotenoid, beta-carotene, which the body turns into retinol – this is a form of vitamin A, which can seriously boost the immune system.

Pomegranate: Who doesn’t love Pomegranate juice? The fruit originally came from Iran and Northern India and is prized for its high polyphenol content. These are anti-oxidants that can lower cholesterol and reduce heart disease. A study in 2010 also found that polyphenols may guard against mental decline as we age. You can also fine polyphenols in green tea, concord grapes, red wine, parsley, and artichokes.

Acai (pronounced ass-ai-ee). This fruit is native to central and south America, and comes from the Acai Palm Tree. The fruit contains anthocyanins, which may offer benefits such as inhibiting cancer cell growth and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Chlorella Algae: Chlorella is a fresh water algae that has been around for several billion years. It is made up of 60% protein and has twice the protein content of soy. Chlorella has more chlorphyll than Alfalfa, ten times that of Spirulina, and over eight times that of Wheat Grass. Chlorella contains impressive amounts of beta-carotene, Vitamin C, B1, 82, 86, B12, niacin, potassium, phosphorous, copper, magnesium, sulfur, calcium, manganese, zinc, iodine, and cobalt. Chlorella has so many health benefits that I cannot possibly list them all here, however, the broad strokes are that it stimulates the immune system and helps detoxify your body of harmful metals such as mercury. If you want to find an absolutely brilliant supplement that contains a bunch of Chlorella, I highly recommend Power For Life.
