Although not strictly a cookbook, Grown in America by our First Lady, Michelle Obama, does include some wonderful recipes. This is a gorgeous coffee table book, with photographs that you will really enjoy. The book tells the story of the White House kitchen and how Michelle found her passion in creating a garden, similar to the “Victory” garden of a bygone era. What is most impressive is her passion for feeding her family a healthy, plant-based diet. In a time where childhood obesity is crippling our children, a beautiful book with an inspiring message is just what we need.

Kris Carr is a plantalicious diva. She is the bestselling author of The Crazy Sexy Diet, and she is a cancer survivor extraordinaraire. I adore Kris! So, her latest offering, The Crazy Sexy Kitchen, is a must-have for anyone who is taking their health to the next level. She is joined by whole foods chef, Chad Sarno, in creating over 150 simple, delish vegan dishes. As usual, Kris’s book is delightfully presented, with stunning photos, and oozing with Kris’s effervescent personality. I highly recommend it.

Herbivoracious by Michael Natkin is to die-for. If you are on the look-out for mouth-watering vegetarian dishes, you absolutely have to own this book. I picked it up because the cover and the photographs are food porn at its best, however, unlike so many vegan cookbooks, Natkin’s recipes are spectacular every time. I don’t even know where to begin with my favorites, but so far, the “Crispy Polenta Capes with White Beans and Morels” has become a family favorite. Even if you are not vegan/veggie, I promise this book will satisfy you.
