I’ve been trying a bunch of “natural” shampoos recently – on a mission to find products that perform really well, without drying out my hair. I was sent 3 Neuma products from their moisture line (shampoo, conditioner, and repair mask,) and I am really impressed. All Neuma products are sulphate and paraben-free, so great for color-treated hair. They also contain a patented UV shield.
The thing I like about Neuma is that they are completely transparent about their ingredients. Unlike most drugstore brands, they do not contain synthetic fragrance, which is a big plus for me. Although the major nasties, as far as chemical ingredients are concerned, are not in their ingredient list, there are a couple of ingredients that if I’m putting my green zealot hat on, might give me pause. That being said, shampoos are tricky because so many of the “natural” ones that you typically find in health food stores, leave one’s hair looking and feeling like straw. So, if I find a brand that eschews parabens, phthalates and synthetic fragrance, I can be a little more forgiving of a less-than-perfect ingredient list. (BTW, if you look at the ingredient list of almost every brand you find in a beauty supply store, you’d be shocked – how do they get that many chemicals in one formulation??)
Do they perform well? Yes – very, very well. They have a light scent, and left my overly-dry hair feeling smooth and well nourished.
