SKIN CARE FOR THE FALL

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The leaves are becoming crisp and beginning to fall off the trees – sooooooo ladies, this is an excellent time to mimic what’s happening around us in Nature, with our skin care regime. It’s time to slough off all those dead skin cells after months of summer damage. Yep – September is a great month for some deep exfoliation.

Remember – most of the hard-hitting anti-aging products, and ones that actually work, are all about exfoliation because it’s only by deep exfoliation that we can encourage the skin cells to turn over at the rate that they used to when we were younger. Here are my favorite exfoliation tips/products for the fall. Don’t forget to exfoliate your bod, too! Maybe try out my Lavender Rose Moisturizing Scrub recipe – easy to make. Just make sure that you are employing at least one of the deep exfoliation treatments below – and you’ll start to see and feel a big difference.

1. A good exfoliating cleanser: I love Ren’s Micro Polish Cleanser $30.00, which is a great one to use in the shower every morning. If you are after a really top-notch everyday polish – this is your girl!

2. Maybe try a Microdermabrasion Scrub. I think Derma e’s Age Defying Microdermabrasion Scrub $32.50  is one of the best. It makes a huge difference and can be used once or twice a week.

3. Exfoliating Sponge: Oh, how I love the Dr. Sponge facial and body sponges $11.50They are a relatively new discovery of mine, and I’m a bit obsessed. They are made from an exotic Asian biodegradable plant, which is very rich in minerals and vitamins. They are then infused with various goodies such as green tea or aloe (loads of different ones to choose from). When you soak them in water, they puff up and provide a gentle but beautiful exfoliating sponge.

4. Brush: I do like the Clarisonic brushes, and think that they are a good investment (a few of you have recently asked me about this.) I personally like the Mia $125 because it’s less expensive and does the job. I wouldn’t personally use the products that they sell with the brush – they’re are better ones to be had!

5. Peel: Now we’re getting a bit more serious in terms of a deeper kind of exfoliation! A peel is the way to go, but I recommend a non-chemical peel because chemical peels can be full of loads of dodgy chemicals and can actually make your skin much worse long term. Avoid any peel that actually “sheds” your skin. Instead, try the amazing Pumpkin Power Peel System $98.00from Sunshine Botanicals. This is an amazing product, and worth every single penny. In the kit, you get: A pre-cleanse, the peel, and the post-serum. You also get a fan brush for application. You probably want to do this peel once a week for about 6-8 weeks, and then you’ll really see a difference.

6. Microdermabrasion: The good news is that you don’t need to go to the salon for one of these treatments because Trophy Skin has come out with an excellent at-home MicrodermMD machine $299 I cannot recommend this little guy more. It uses diamond particles instead of the usual messy crystals, which makes it more safe and precise. It’s so easy to operate, and your skin feels so incredibly smooth after just one treatment. It’s expensive, but pays for itself after just 3 0r 4 sessions, so it’s one of the few high-end gadgets that I’d recommend.

I have a bunch of videos coming up on how to best exfoliate your skin, so DO make sure you’re subscribed to my YouTube Channel!
