  1. Well, considering money was tight this year and I wanted to be eco-friendly… I made homemade jam and english muffins for my holiday gifts.

  2. The greenest gift I gave was Gorgeously Green!! It’s one of the greenest gifts one can give; knowledge of how to make youself, others, and the earth more gorgeously green.

  3. The Greenest holiday gift I ever gave was a book I made out of recycled paper, cover and all, to all my siblings about our mother who passed away 2 years ago. They can read it to all the grandkids so they know how special she was.

  4. The greenest gift I gave was reusable produce bags…my daughter saw the idea on your site/book (can’t remember which) and has been wanting them!

  5. A green gift that I gave my family was a fully consumable gift. It was a Banana Walnut Coconut pudding-like cake. The ingredients used were all organic. I became estatic seeing my daugthers and husband savoring to the utter most in confort food, bitting into every piece of the cake. I felt that it was healthiest gift treat that I can give my family.

  6. The greenest holiday gift I gave was Chico Bags! I love how the little pouch fits in a purse, pocket or glove compartment so you always have a reusable bag handy for spur-of-the-moment errands. I thought my friends and family would as well – and they did!

  7. The greenest gift I gave this year was a donation to Heifer.org on behalf of my mom and to Habitat for Humanity for my 2 year old niece. These organizations do such amazing work and we don’t need more “stuff” when so many have nothing. It feels great to help others and has even inspired a group at my mom’s high school to donate their fundraising proceeds to Heifer as well!

  8. The Greenest holiday gifts I gave were home-made hemp lip-balms, chocolate bath bombs, gingerbread bath milk, snowman bath melts, and jellie soaps! To be greener I decided to wrap them all in old clothes of mine I no longer wear, that I cut up and made look cute!

  9. The greenest gift I gave this year for my 3 year nephew. I gave him a made in America I spy puzzle made from recycled paper plus a coloring book printed on recycled paper. I wrapped all my gifts in either colored newspaper or a end roll of left over press paper from a local printer.

  10. I crocheted pillow-covers out of left-over yarns collected over the years. It turns out that grand-ma squares are trendy again, so my kids & nieces were very pleased!

  11. The greenest holiday gave that I gave my mom and sister was my homemade body oil consisting of organic EVOO, organic coconut oil, and organic cocoa butter. They loved it and I was very proud of myself for going green this Christmas. And oh yeah, I even wrapped their gifts and all gifts this year in old wrapping paper from previous years and newspaper.

  12. The greenest holiday gift was using recycled gift bags and wrapping paper. Something that they will be able to reuse as well.

  13. The greenest gifts I gave this year were tote bags and makeup bags sewn by me using my machine and fabric and ribbon remnants I had here. The fully lined tote bags are large enough to use for quick trips to the grocery and the makeup bags will hold makeup, glasses, or even pencils for school. They were HUGE hits with the receivers! Adorable!

  14. The greenest gift I gave this holiday was a gift certificate for an organic, non-toxic hair dye session to my mom, a longtime user of dyes. I’m hoping to convert her to the green alternative!

  15. I did some of my favorite green gift-giving for my mother and mother-in-law’s presents this christmas. both received beautiful, sustainable bamboo ‘cardishawl’ wraps from one of my favorite eco clothing lines, tranquiliT. they absolutely adored them! when you shop w/ tranquiliT, a tree is planted in honor of your purchase, so it’s a gift back to mother earth as well!

  16. Both out of necessity and by choice, our family has never been extravagent about the holidays. This year, however, has been a rough one for many of us. Lost jobs, reduced hours and wages, required us to be even more creative than usual. Although money is tight, many of us had more time than we usually do this holiday. So, we planned lots of fun family gatherings throughout the season–game nights, craft afternoon, handmade cards for Gram. The culmination was Christmas day. Our gifts for each other were skits, games, and songs that each family performed for the family at large. My sister, an amazing teacher who unfortunately lost her position to budget cuts, did a rousing, hilarious pardody of “Last Christmas” that brought the house down. (Last Christmas I had a job, but when the school year was through, they told me adieu . . .) Our gifts cost nothing. They were not wrapped with paper nor tied with bows or ribbons. But, when the day was through, we all agreed that it was the best Christmas ever.
