Dandruff Scalp Treatment

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Dandruff is an annoying and unattractive scalp condition that can be linked to poor diet, hormonal imbalance, and stress. It can also just be a condition that appears every now and again despite good nutrition and rest!

The key is to make sure you are washing your hair and scalp really well with a gentle shampoo. I recommend using a shampoo that does not contain SLS or Sodium Chloride. (Keep checking out my recommendations in my daily “Tried & Tested” for hair care recommendations – there are some good ones with money-off coupons coming up). It also might help to install a chlorine filter on your shower and chlorine is incredibly drying. Having taken these basic precautions, have a go at using this amazing scalp oil once a week. It really helps!

DIRECTIONS:

  1. 2 tbsp Jojoba oil, and 6 drops of the following essential oils: lavender, rosemary and tea tree.
  2. Apply the treatment to clean, damp hair and take a few minutes to massage it thoroughly into your scalp. Either put on a plastic shower cap or make a turban with a damp towel. Leave for one hour.

  1. I have a ten year old son that has dandruff. He seems to have very sensitive skin all around. We only eat real whole foods and organic. I pretty much just use natural cleaning Products. He is still using hurts bees baby shampoo. Do you have other recommendations. Also I was recently reading about tea tree oil and not using on boys because it can mimic female hormones. Do you know about this? I stopped adding it to their laundry or sheets. Would this treatment be as effective without the tea tree oil? Is there something to substitute? Thanks. I love love love all your info and books.

  2. I would also warm the oil slightly on the stove so you can get a hot oil treatment in addition to a dandruff treatment. I would also use cypress, geranium, and juniper berry to soothe and de-flake-ify.
