5 Non-Toxic Perfect Holiday Gift Perfumes

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I have had so many comments asking for my suggestions for non-toxic perfumes. A beautiful bottle of perfume is something to put on you Holiday gift list, so I’m delighted to share my favorites with you.

Why are regular perfumes so toxic? They are a literally a cocktail of chemicals (that are never listed on an ingredient label because they don’t have to be), which can adversely affect your health in number of ways: the main concern is that some of them are mild neurotoxins, which is why you might feel a little dizzy, nauseous, and off-center if you continue to use them. Many of the chemicals can also disrupt your hormones.

I used to be able to tolerate strong designer perfumes when I was younger, but like many people, as I got older I became more sensitive to these chemicals, and now I avoid them at all costs.

Here’s some that I think you’ll love:

  1. Tsi la: These tiny little rollerball bottles of organic perfume give off a delicate scent, and small enough to pop in your purse. I love the Misaki. If you want to go a little less expensive, they also do perfume oils, which make for great stocking stuffers.
  2. Gwendolyn Mary: If you want to give an exquisite and absolutely luxurious Holiday gift, consider a set of Gwendolyn Mary perfumes. The three perfumes (Pavane 1, 2, and 3) are designed to be either worn alone or layered ( I love to layer them!). Each perfume is inspired by a piece of classical music, which is denoted in the box in which your perfume arrives. If you want the whole experience, you would layer the perfume, light a candle and listen to the indicated piece of music – truly a sublime experience. I have met the owner, Kathleen Laccinole, who has spent year in France studying the art of perfumery with some of the greatest “noses” in the world.
  3. Aftelier Perfume: Many Atelier is a skillful perfumer who has been teaching the art of perfumery for many years in her Berkeley Studio. Mandy searches for the finest oils from around the world and hand blends each perfume. Since her blends are expensive, she smartly offer tiny bottle samples for $6.00 a piece.
  4. Pacifica perfumes: I love the Pacifica perfumes because there are so many different scents to choose from, and compared to many of my other recommendations, they are pretty affordable. You can also purchase a matching body lotion. My favorite is the Tunisian Jasmine Lime.
  5. Intelligent Nutrients Aromatics: Oh – how much do I adore this line of true aromatics from the wonderful Intelligent Nutrients. These elixirs won’t overpower you and are delicate enough to spray on your body and hair too. You can either buy a Spirit Essence ( I love #2 Seductive) or a Hair and Body Elixir.
