I love Pinterest! It is SO much fun. Whenever I need ideas or inspiration, I love looking at pins, because it is so much more visual and stimulating than a straight google search.
So, I was really excited to be featured with top brands and celebrities such as Dr Oz, Katie Couric, Paula Deen & the TODAY show, Starbucks, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, Patagonia, Southwest Airlines, Babble, Parent’s Magazine, Nina Garcia, Refinery 29, Esquire, and others for Pinterest’s 30 DAYS OF PINSPIRATION holiday campaign.
Check out my Healthy Holiday Detox Tips board where I pinned my favourite green smoothies and detox juices, cleanses, healthy recipes, workout tips, product recommendations, inspirational quotes, support resources and more. So, please join me, and let’s get “Clean and Green in 2013!”
But, for those of you who are old fashioned, and prefer to read tips without pictures, here are my Top 20 Tips For Getting Clean and Healthy:
- Sleep and rest in order to maximize your healthy potential.
- Start your day squeezing a lemon into a glass of room temperature water to detoxify your body after rest, restore an alkaline balance, stimulate the peristaltic movement of the colon and prepare your body for digestion.
- Drink at least three litres of filtered water a day to keep hydrated. For maximium effect, add some liquid chlorophyll to the water. I love World Organic Mint Flavoured Chlorophyll which is all natural and tastes like refreshing mint tea.
- Enjoy a savoury green alkaline smoothie or whole juice every day to get your daily dose of greens and top up your alkaline buffers.
- Increase the amount of raw foods in your diet to take advantage of the live enzymes, and include some green leafy vegetables with every meal.
- Consume a spoonful of cultured vegetables with every meal to maintain the healthy intestinal flora in your system.
- Soak and sprout your raw nuts, seeds, and grains to remove enzyme inhibitors and activate their nutritional potential and avoid bloating.
- Practice Food Combining to improve your digestion.
- Dry skin brushing with a natural vegetable bristle brush helps to remove toxins and improve the texture of your skin and circulation. A good massage keeps the body relaxed and in balance, not to mention, pampered.
- Use food-grade, natural, organic beauty products. Your skin abosrbs the “toxic topicals” that are applied and sends them into your bloodstream. No thanks.
- Clean your home with eco-friendly food items like lemon juice, baking soda, and vinegar. Harsh chemicals can irritate the skin, and cause air-borne allergies. Not to mention the toxicity that can wreak havoc with our sensitive systems.
- Keep moving! Engage in some form of stretching, aerobic activity, and weight bearing exercise at least three times a week.
- Rebounding for just 10 minutes a day is one of the most effective ways to stimulate your lymphatic system.
- “Clean Colon Clean Body.” Having regular colonics helps keep the digestive system healthy and clear, removing toxins and emotional stress.
- Practice deep breathing and/or meditation to reconnect with your inner self, alkalize and relax, and set mindful intentions for the day.
- An attitude of gratitude and abundance expands and brings beauty into your world.
- Treat others the way you want to be treated. What you put out into the world comes back to you.
- Volunteer your time to a worthy cause, and touch a stranger’s life.
- Tell the people in your life how you feel about them. Know and be known.
Live, Laugh, Let Go.
