I love to browse for hair treatments at any beauty store, but I have yet to find a better hot oil hair treatment for full, glossy, baby-soft hair than this easy DIY treatment. It’s designed for dry, brittle, damaged hair, but is actually a effective treatment for any hair type. And, BTW, when you go to the salon and they tell you that you need a special hair conditioning treatment after your color, say “NO!!!!” because you’ll save yourself a bunch of money by doing your DIY hot oil conditioning treatment. Plus, my hot hair oil conditioning treatment is way better than anything sold in any salon because the oils are organic, cold-pressed, and thus contain all the hair nutrients you need.
If you have had a Keratin treatment, ask your stylist about whether or not to do the vinegar rinse at the end of your treatment. Vinegar will strip grease and impurities out of your hair, but might take your Keratin treatment out too.
This hot oil hair conditioning treatment is also great for split ends. Although nothing short of having them snipped off will take them away, this treatment will make them less frazzled-looking.
I also love that my hot oil conditioning treatment is as great for your scalp as it is for your hair. If you suffer from dandruff, make sure you spend a good few minutes massaging it deeply into your scalp with your fingers.
Ingredients:
- 3 tsp jojoba oil
- 3 tsp avocado oil
- 2 tsp sunflower seed oil
- 1tsp lemon juice
- 5 drops geranium essential oil
- 5 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 cups warm water
Instructions:
- Mix the oils and lemon juice together in a mug or small glass cup.
- Stand the cup in a bowl of very hot water (just off the boil is best), for a few minutes.
- Pour a little oil into the palm of your hand and apply to your scalp. Begin to massage.
- Keep applying until the oil is all used.
- Wrap your hair up in a turban. If you don’t want to get your towel oily, put on a plastic shower cap before the turban.
- Leave for at least 20 minutes.
- Rinse out with a sulfate-free shampoo.
- Mix the vinegar into the water, and use as a final rinse.
- Condition the ends of your hair as usual.
