I’m going to make sure that the Easter basket I create this year helps others out. The way to do this is to look for Fair Trade goodies to throw into your basket, and thankfully fair trade chocolate is really easy to find.
I’m about to order one of these pretty baskets from One World Projects, that directly help women in the poverty-stricken areas of Haiti and Rwanda. They are beautifully crafted and can be your child’s/husband’s or wife’s basket every year.
The Chocolate:
Try to buy your chocolate organic and fair-trade. We adore these Easter bunnies from Sweet Earth Chocolates. If you prefer a bar, my fair trade faves are Theo and Divine. Divine also carry yummy milk chocolate Easter bunnies.
The Note:
If you want to include a note in your basket, look no further than these beautiful vintage-inspired Easter cards ( see below left),made on Hemp paper in Bangladesh.
Instead of buying green shredded paper to fill up your basket, fill it with fresh greenery. Either cut some winter greenery and leaves from your yard, or visit your local florist or farmer’s market and buy an bunch of inexpensive greenery.
Another idea is don’t go overboard with consumption of goodies or toys.
Just have a little beautiful treat to welcome spring!
