This DIY body butter is a savior for dry winter skin, which tends to get parched due to indoor heating. It’s also beautiful in the Summer for sun-parched skin. It’s full of omega 3 fatty acids, which literally feeds your skin, and plumps it up. I wouldn’t recommend using it on your face as it’s a little too greasy.
The Sea Buckthorn oil is an optional ingredient (but beautifully nourishing), so don’t sweat if you want to keep the cost down by omitting. It will make your body butter a more golden color, whereas if you omit, your butter will be way paler.
Ingredients
2 tbsp coconut oil
2tbsp shea butter
1 tbsp Evening Primrose oil
1 tbsp sea buckthorn oil
10-12 drops of your favorite essential oil (I used geranium and lavender)
Instructions
Melt the butter and coconut oil in a double-boiler. Mix well. Remove from heat. Add the evening primrose oil and the Sea Buckthorn oil and mix well. Place in the fridge for one hour. If it sets hard, break up with a spoon and allow it to soften a little at room temperature before mixing with an electric mixer.
Add essential oils, then whip up with mixer for a good minute to get more air into the butter.
Spoon into a sterilized glass jar.
Store in the fridge for up to one month. If the temperature indoors in below 68 degrees, you can keep outside of the fridge for up to 1 month.
