We place so much value on being “connected” nowadays, right? And social media is mercifully making it super easy to connect with just about everyone and anyone on the planet. You can connect with a friend you haven’t seen in 30 years on Facebook, or President Obama on Twitter. However, as we sit tapping away, busily connecting, we may be losing a vital mind/body connection- and this is a worry.

Being connected to our body is vital for good health. This connection helps us to:

1. Heal imbalances

2. Become aware is something is not as it should be

3. Release stress

4. Improve digestion

5. Feel “alive”

6. Connect to who we really are (our intuition)

Having taught yoga for 2 decades I understand the incredible value of this physical connection because I see what students experience after just one hour of using their breath to connect their mind to their body.

This is the reason why in my new book, Gorgeous For Good – 30 Days To Lasting Beauty Inside & Out, I recommend both a mini daily breathing/meditation exercise, and suggest that you exercise 6 days a week. I cannot stress the importance of doing these 2 things daily! Your mind will try to talk you out of it because we all have an in-built resistance to doing what is good for us. But if you can break through this resistance, I promise that you will find gold.

So, shut down your phone/computer now ( I KNOW – we’ll all addicted to our phones,) sit quietly and take 3 or 4 deep breaths. Allow your facial muscles to release, and your shoulders to drop away from your ears. For just a couple of minutes see if you can drop into that quietness at the center of your being. LISTEN to the small, still voice within – listen to what it is telling you. That voice is your deepest intuition, which will always lead you to where you need to be. Connect with your body, your breath, and your intuition for just 2 minutes daily, say “Thank You” for the guidance, and your life will change.
