2 Apples a Day …

Apples a Day
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I have a vintage framed Vogue magazine cover in my bathroom from 1932, and the headline reads: “An apple a day makes a girl look a peach”. Well, a new study is now telling us that two apples a day makes a girl way healthier – actually makes a woman (particularly a post-menopausal woman,) healthier.

The new study from Florida State University found that eating two apples a day can significantly reduce bad cholesterol. So, apples should absolutely be placed on our list of super foods.

Remember, your apples need to be organic because apples are on the Dirty Dozen list because they are subjected to dozens rounds (during their growing cycle) of harmful pesticides. If fresh organic apples aren’t readily available, you can also eat dried apples, but make sure there is no sugar added (Trader Joe’s does a great dried apple).

You can also buy organic applesauce, and eat bowls of it chilled with a little Greek Yogurt for a dessert.

How can one determine if the apples are organic? What is my option when organic apples are unavailable; Is any apple better than non at all?
