Is there a perfect smoothie for gorgeous skin? You bet there is! The trick to creating a smoothie for better skin is to pack it with skin-boosting vitamins. I also recommend keeping the dairy out (because a lot of skin issues clear up when you eliminate dairy).  The most important thing to consider when feeding your skin with nutrients is to make sure that you are using fresh, organic and really good quality ingredients.

I have included kiwi, pineapple and Amla Powder (Indian Gooseberry) in this smoothie. Together these fruits make the most potent Vitamin C cocktail ever. Remember, Vitamin C is essential for creating gorgeous skin, because it helps build collagen.

I also included hemp seeds because they are loaded with Omega 3 Fatty Acids, which is another vital ingredient for gorgeous, glowing skin.

I choose coconut water as opposed to a nut milk because I wanted to keep the calories down, and boost the electrolytes up. Optimum hydration is also an important component in creating a gorgeous, glowing complexion.

Enjoy your Better Skin Smoothie with your breakfast, or at anytime during the day. It’s fantastically refreshing, and great for the family too (although skip the Amla powder for the kids).

You don’t need a super expensive high-speed blender either, a basic Magic Bullet will be fine because you are not crushing anything. You can, add a cup of ice if you prefer an icy smoothie, but in the cooler months, I prefer mine as is.

Ingredients

  • 8 – ounces coconut water
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 Kiwi, peeled
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1 tsp – 1tbsp Amla* Powder (start with 1 tsp and see how you feel, and slowly edge up to 1tbsp.)

*Amla is also known as Indian Gooseberry and is very, very high in Vitamin c. It is also really good for cleansing your digestive system, and is used a lot in Ayurvedic Medicine, where it is also use topically to get your skin glowing.

Directions:

Simply toss all the ingredients into a blender, and blend until smooth.
