Should I use gluten-free skin care products?

I’ve noticed a crazy amount of gluten-free skin care marketing hype of late. By and large, it’s just another pole for a brand to appear healthier, greener and cleaner. But, what about those of you with Celiac Disease – should you switch to gluten-free skin care? It’s obviously your choice, but it’s important to understand that the gluten protein is too large to be absorbed by skin, so using regular skin care products shouldn’t affect you, with the exception of any products that you might ingest such as toothpaste, lip balm and lipstick.

If you have CD you’ll know that even a minute amount of the gluten protein can affect you adversely, which is why you want your lip and mouth products to be entirely gluten-free.

If, however, you don’t have CD, disregard the marketing hype, and shop for products that contain all the nourishing ingredients you want!

For CD sufferers, I love love love the Juice Beauty lip products.
