SALON ALTERNATIVES

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There are now so many inexpensive alternatives to salon anti-aging treatments. You no longer have to have a salon facial in order to get a good glycolic peel. Natural fruit acid masks are a healthier alternative to chemical peels, which are often toxic and way too harsh.

Enzyme Peels and masks are becoming a major trend, with many natural skin care lines offering the kind of peel that a consumer can do in their own bathroom.

Anti-aging: The science behind an enzyme peel is that enzymes are extracted from a number of mainly tropical fruits. When applied to and left on the skin, the enzymes dissolve the upper dead layers of the skin, leaving your skin silky and soft.

Who for: Acne, blemishes, dull and sun damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles.

It’s also a great treatment for when you are getting ready for a special occasion and you want to glow.

These fruit enzymes (AKA alpha hydroxy acids,) can be so powerful that you can even make a peel at home using pineapple and papaya.

It’s important to look at the other ingredients in a fruit peel to check they are not toxic.

I highly recommend these two products.

PhytoPeel System by Sunshine Botanicals.

This is a fantastic product and I am really impressed with the results after only two applications. Three products make up the system: A pre- peel prep, the peel, and an after-peel serum. The whole thing takes just 5 minutes because when you first start using it, you don’t want to leave it on for more than 3-5 minutes. You can increase this time as your skin gets used to it.

Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask.

This comes in a small tube. You simply apply a layer over your skin and leave for 1o minutes before rinsing off. It’s perfect for travel and if you’re off to a wedding or special party and want to glow on the day (just do the mask the night before.)
