Ladies (and sassy gents,) – if you are into exquisite perfumes as I am, you will be bowled over by my latest discovery. Gwendolyn Mary takes natural perfume to the next (and highest,) level with their inaugural perfume, “Pavane”. A “pavane” is a musical term, and as you know all musical compositions have different notes – so do perfumes: a high, middle and low note. These 3 Pavane perfumes reflect the beautiful and captivating lush, floral and full-bodied notes of a perfect perfume. You can either purchase the perfumes separately, and each one in of itself is stunning, or you can buy all 3 and layer them, creating your own customized perfume.
Gwendolyn Mary is all about layering, which I was thrilled to find out about, because so am I! I adore the complexity of how you can play with different notes to create a personalized fragrance. To this end, Gwendolyn Mary also created a candle trio, which are supposed to be burned together. Each one carries a different note of the “Pavane,” and burned together they are sublime. Each candle and perfume comes with a little note suggesting the music that should be played while enjoying the scent. This is right up my street because it involves a complete 360 sensory experience. A friend of mine threw a dinner party a few months ago, (which is when I got turned onto Gwendolyn Mary,) and as I walked into her home, I was immediately enthralled by the scent – she was burning the trio, and wearing the perfumes. It was not, however, overpowering, just sensuous and beautiful.
