GORGEOUS LITTLE DRESSES

uhuru-dressProgressive earth-friendly clothes designer, Edun, has now come up with an affordable line of adorable summerruffledress1 wardrobe pieces in organic cotton (pictured left). It serves me to remember that the cotton crop use more insecticides than any other single crop in the world. These hazardous chemicals harm people, wildlife and our precious soil and water. When you buy just one organic item, you are making your voice heard – you are making difference by voting with your dollars. I also love a U.S. based designer called Perfectly Imperfect (pictured right), who currently has some of the cutest little throw-on summer dresses at really great prices. Many of us want to go beyond just buying organic cotton – we want to get the whole 360 on a garment or a company. What about the dye polluting groundwater, the sweatshop conditions the eco-initiative of the company as a whole? These are questions that we need to start asking ourselves. It feels so good and sexy to make a purchase with a conscience and to know that your money is going to support a company, that despite the economy, is trying to do the right thing. Having talked at length to Karen Stewart and Howard Brown of Stuart Brown clothing, there are so many good or bad, healthy or toxic choices a manufacturer can make. This company stays true to their deepest values, bringing us everyday hip/cool pieces that meet even the crunchiest of green’s criteria.stuartborwn
