WEN

As many of you know, I’m always on the hunt for a great eco-friendly hair product lines, which will create some seriously lustrous locks. Well, I’ve recently stumbled upon Wen and I was pretty impressed by the look of the whole line. It’s a supposedly unique concept in the hair product dept! They claim to have 5 products in 1, which is technically true (shampoo, conditioner, mask, leave-on conditioner, and de-tangler) – not that I ever use all 5 of those products anyway. The key is that you’re not scrubbing the living daylights out of your hair with bubbles and lather – you’re instead using a hair “cleanse” (think facial cleanser) – it’s actually an interesting idea because it’s the SLS and lather that typically dries out our hair.

Be aware though, this is what I’d term a light green product. Although the cleansers don’t contain SLS, there are a few ingredients that I don’t love (PEG-60 and Fragrance), – so for those of you who aren’t eco-purists, this may be a product you want to check out.

  1. I know the problem with fragrance (hidden chemicals listed under one word) but what is bad about PEG-60? Also, what do you recommend for adult acne. I’ve never had a problem with acne before, even as a teenager, but now that I’ve turned 30, I’ve got it and no matter what I try, I can’t seem to get it under control. No luck so far finding any green products for acne. Any suggestions?

  2. I’ve bought the Wen system before and SAVE YOUR MONEY! This has to be the worst and most wasteful product that I have ever used! The company is also sketchy. They say that you can cancel at anytime but that’s not true. We cancelled well before the next payment/shipping time and they still took money out of our account and sent it to us.

  3. First off – Sarah PEG’s are potential carcinogens – so that’s why I try to avoid them. A fantastic product for acne is the Acne Kit by Mychelle Cosmetics.
Abbe – wow! Thanks for your feedback about Wen. There are apparently two totally different Wen stores – one is the original one (link in my post) and the other is the one connected with QVC – it was perhaps the latter that you were having problems with. Anyway – thanks for weighing in.

  4. I used the Wen pictured above and it didn’t work for me. It made my hair look greasy and eventually made it feel dry. I only used the hair cleanse.

  5. I have actually been using a product similar called Hair One from Sally’s Beauty Supply for the past 6 months. I have found it works really great. I have tried so many green shampoos and conditioners and have been very disappointed. I have been pleased with Hair One though. My hair is much healthier and I don’t have to use a hair dryer or flat iron anymore. Plus, its less expensive then Wen and one bottle usually lasts me 2 months. I also use Argan oil as a leave in conditioner.

  6. I used this product and purchased it through their ads from the television product commercial. For the price that they charged I did not find that this product lived up to their standards let alone mine. I have very curly hair and this product left my hair feeling almost like a sticky feeling instead of the silky soft feel. I returned to my deva curl products.

  7. I too tried this from the infomercial and STILL can’t stop the auto deliver. AND I never got the product to do what it claimed.
I have been using John Masters Organics and am MUCH happier with the products.

  8. I use Wen hair care products and I love them, my hair is thick, since I’ve been using Wen my hair is shiny and the fizz is no longer a problem. I have been using these products for about 6 months.

  9. I love Wen. I have used it for four years now and have had zero problems. I only have to wash my hair maybe twice a week and no static at all!. I will never go back to regular shampoos and conditioners. My hair feels gross afterward if I do. I buy mine off of Amazon it a bit cheaper than using the Wen site.
