EAT PRETTY

eat-pretty-jolene-hartHaving been a great friend and fan of Jolene Hart for a few years now, I was extremely exited to receive a copy of her long-awaited book, Eat Pretty – and what a stunning little book it is! First off, the design is simply gorgeous – I just love to flick through it because it reminds me of one of those stunning Artisan  notebooks that you might find on display in a high-end boutique or in Anthropologie. The design is also unique for a nutrition book, which can sometimes be presented in rather a boring style – not so with Eat Pretty (and it looks VERY pretty on my nightstand!).

Jolene Hart is a beauty and wellness coach with a focus on nutrition. She mixes the teachings of Eastern traditions with modern nutritional science, and the most current dermatological findings. Jolene knows that the foundation of beautiful skin is a beautiful diet, and this is what she explores in her book.

Eat Pretty starts out by outlining the “Beauty Betrayers” – the foods and beverages that will never be our friend – and she explains exactly why, so instead of giving us a sharp rap on the knuckles and telling us we must never devour another soda as long as we live, she lovingly educates us on why certain foods may not be the best choice if we want to glow.

I absolutely love how Jolene has organized the book around the seasons: For example, in my “Summer Beauty Basket” I know that I should include Apricots, blueberries, cherries, okra and loads of other skin-plumping/inflammation-fighting goodies. The book is jam-packed with useful ideas, tips, and best-of-all, recipes: Rainbow Trout with Watercress Pesto, followed by Creamy Strawberry Almond Tart…SERIOUSLY Jolene???? I can eat all this, and walk away feeling light, vibrant and excited about my beautifully glowing skin? BRING IT ON!

Eat Pretty is a little pink gem that belongs on every girl’s nightstand or cookery bookshelf. It also helps to know (as I do personally,) that Jolene is not only a super-smart girl who walks the walk, but she also has the most beautiful skin imaginable – a lovely piece of work by a truly lovely person:)
