Every New Year is like a fresh start, and this year I’m taking that literally. Yes for fresh foods, LOVE fresh beauty products, but I’m also trying new oral care products.
Yep, this year I’m rethinking how I care for my pearly whites. Oral care an often overlooked area of health. Once you establish a routine for your teeth, you tend to stick to it, because it’s familiar, even if it’s less than stellar. But we’re all grown-ups here; so let’s just assume you’re brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day. Now, let’s talk about products.
I’ve always believed in choice and what may work for me may not work for you, but when it comes to toothpaste ingredients I do recommend avoiding artificial flavors and sweeteners in both toothpastes and mouthwash. There are too many wonderful, unexpected flavors and formulas available now in natural toothpastes that you don’t have to “settle” just because it’s something you’ve used for 10 years.
Right now I’m currently obsessed with Tom’s of Maine toothpaste. They have a line of toothpastes that have natural botanical oils as the key flavor ingredients. Of course, they also contain only naturally ingredients to clean your teeth. Look for Botanically Fresh and Botanically Bright. These are not your typical, generic, mint pastes. They clean, whiten and freshen breath with a delicious blend of either tea tree, sage, clove and spearmint oils (Botanically Fresh), or myrrh, chamomile, spearmint or peppermint (Botanically Bright). They leave your chompers with a delightfully clean, fresh feel. I actually look forward to brushing my teeth in the morning with Botanically Fresh because of the flavors, and because my mouth and teeth feel really bright afterwards.
The two toothpastes that are “Sophie Safe” and do the job in keeping my dentist happy. Seriously, he gives me regular and quite detailed reports on my dental hygiene and never has to tell me off!
So here’s the skinny: You can find Botanically Fresh exclusively at Whole Foods, and you can get Botanically Bright online and in stores nationwide. So why not ditch your old additive-filled paste and try something that contains only the good stuff?
