Finding good organic hair products has been something on my radar lately since a lot of people ask me for recommendations. It is a tough balance to find a product that will add moisture and shine without weighing down the hair or making it feel greasy. It is also hard to decipher which of these gazillions of hair styling products out there are safe for an eco-girl to use. Hair products are especially notorious for being reliant on toxic chemical compounds like Cocamide DEA (diethylamine), Propylene Glycol, and Benzyl acetate, just to name a few! Luckily there are plenty of companies who are dedicated to innovative hair solutions that are safe and easy. Two great products from Aubrey Organics have caught my eye since I saw them at the Natural Products Expo West. The NuStyle line from Aubrey Organics of organic hair styling products all uses quinoa protein as a key ingredient since it is a natural protein that adds shine and strength to the hair. The organic detangler and shine booster for fine or medium hair is a fantastic light mist that will protect your hair from harsh heat styling and environmental stressors. It is filled with vitamins, minerals, and amino acids and has a light scent. Another great product in this line is the organic hair smoothing serum, which I love. Put a small amount (probably the size of a dime) in your palms and smooth through wet hair. The quinoa protein will act as a “glue” to keep your hair cuticle layers from splitting and breaking.
