It is beyond me that styrofoam (aka polystyrene) is still used in today’s world, when we are aware of its horrific environmental impact AND have such simple alternatives so readily available. Why would one take wasteful, single use food packaging when we can use our own plates, spoons, and forks? Like so many aspects of the global waste crisis, opting for reusable items is a more sustainable option that saves resources, energy, and money.
Using styrafoam saves NO time, actually losing time, as it takes ages and ages, multiple generations for the material to “dissolve” – and therein further poison our earth. As this graphic so clearly displays, it is high time we RETHINK the choice to ever use styrofoam.
This is my call to action and personal plea: just say NO to styro!
