This DIY Organic lavender hand salve is perfect for severely dry hands, elbows, and heels. In the winter, these areas can become parched of moisture, so we need this emollient balm badly! Plus it smells divine. Best of all, it’s less expensive than anything you can find in the store.
I recommend making a few jars for yourself, and your family/friends.
Makes four 4-Ounce Jars
Ingredients:
- 7 tbsp beeswax
- 7 tbs of shea butter
- 3/4 cup grapeseed oil
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp vitamin E oil
- 1 tsp lavender essential oil
- 1 tsp lemon essential oil
- You can transform the hand salve into a chest rub by substituting the essential oils with: 1 tsp eucalyptus essential oil 1 tsp tea tree essential oil
Directions:
- Place a bowl over a saucepan of boiling water (or a Bain Marie).
- Place the beeswax, shea butter, grapeseed oil, and olive oil into the bowl, and allow them to completely melt.
- Remove the bowl from the heat.
- Add the vitamin E oil and essential oils.
- Stir well, and pour into sterilized opaque glass jars. (To Sterilize jars, run them through a hot dishwasher cycle.)
You can store your salve for up to one year in a cool, dark cabinet.
I found all of my ingredients and the jars (cobalt glass), at Mountain Rose Herbs.
