My hands always need a little more TLC in the summer – probably from messing around in the garden (always forgetting gardening gloves), and being in and out of the water. This is a really easy-to-make (5 minutes), beautiful Geranium Hand Salve. I have included carrot seed oil because it’s deeply moisturizing and will help repair damaged skin. You can use this oil for making my eye serum too (in my book, Do It Gorgeously). I used geranium essential oil because it has such a beautiful uplifting scent, however, you can substitute with any essential oil that you love.
This would also make a wonderful gift for someone who loves to cook and/or garden.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 tsp beeswax ( I like the beeswax pellets from Mountain Rose Herbs)
- 2 1/2 tbsp sweet almond oil
- 2tsp cocoa butter
- 8 drops carrot seed oil
- 8 drops of geranium essential oil
DIRECTIONS:
- Simply heat the sweet almond oil, cocoa butter, and beeswax in a bain marie (or a bowl set over a saucepan of boiling water). Stir gently until it melts (about 3 minutes). Remove from the heat and stir in the carrot seed oil and the essential oil.
- Pour into a sterilized plastic or glass jar (an opaque jar or a tin is best). Depending on your room temperature, it’ll take anything from 1/2 an hour to 2 hours to set. This makes about 2 ounces of salve, so if you want to fill a 4 0unce jar, just double the amounts.
It will stay good for up to 6 months.
Can I use another oil? wich one ?
Wich EO can I use in stead of geranium?
Thanks
You can use any essential oil instead: Lavender and Lemon balm are nice alternatives.
Thank you for your wonderful site! I have just made the vanilla body lotion and it is superb! I want to try this hand salve, but can I use coconut oil instead of cocoa butter? Thanks!! Kim
