In the wave of gluten-free and gluten allergies we’ve seen in the past few years, it’s no wonder that everyone seems worried about the affects of grains and bread on your stomach. But, I want to come forward and say, if you’re not gluten-intolerant, your gut needs grains!! Healthy, homemade, artisan breads are an amazing source of fiber and vitamins, and making your own starter means your bread is free of preservatives and full of healthy fermentation. My recommendation is that you always stay away from bleached flour (because it’s basically devoid of any nutrients), but you can watch my other videos about how to make your own uber-healthy, nutritious bread!!

You can see more clips of me and Dr. JJ on Hallmark’s Home & Family.

I want to give a special shoutout to Dr. JJ Levenstein for lending her amazing knowledge of bread and bread making to this video. To learn more about Dr. JJ and her incredible work, you can check out her website, or you can email her directly at jj@callingdrjj.com!

And you can learn more about Blvd Kitchen (where we filmed this video) here. They offer classes for bakers of all ages in the Los Angeles area, definitely check them out!
