I love something to chew on at breakfast, which is why I love to change up my morning smoothie routine with a smoothie bowl. My berry breakfast smoothie bowl also makes the perfect, filling, and deliciously sweet afternoon snack. All you need is a blender, a food processor, and a bunch of easy-to-find ingredients.
I also recommend making the most of the organic summer berries while they are in season, and less expensive. Buy a bunch and freeze them:)
Ingredients
1 frozen banana
1.5 cups frozen organic berries
1/2 cup cashews (soaked for a few hours)
1 scoop protein powder (optional)
1 tbsp ground flax (optional but adds a huge dose of healthy Omega 3 fatty acids to your bowl)
Approx 1/2 cup of almond or coconut milk (unsweetened)
Toppings
Fresh berries or any colorful fruit, cubed
2 tsp chia seeds
1 tbsp sunflower seeds and/or pumpkin seeds
1 tbsp goji berries (love because they are so healthy and have a wonderful chewy texture).
Hemp seeds
Instructions
Blend the ingredients in your high-speed blender or food processor. The consistency should be like soft ice cream.
Get creative with your toppings. I like to separate them in stripes.
