Since October is the month when it starts getting darker earlier and sweater weather closes in, I chose this month to be all about fitness. YES – I want to get us all shaken up and out of our physical comfort zones so that we can sail into the Holiday season feeling strong, energized and full of vim and vigor! Are you up for this?
What I’m asking of myself, and of you this month, is that you shake it up. What this means is that you are going to try something different – add a bit of flavor into your fitness routine, attempt something you’ve never done before, challenge yourself. For some of you this may be committing so a 30-minute home yoga practice a day, for others it might mean taking up kickboxing, hip hop dancing, or hiring a killer trainer.
Ask yourself what you need to do challenge yourself. The issue with working out is that we get all warm and cozy with our familiar routine – this could be a daily spinning class, a hike, or a run, but if it’s what you’ve done day in day out for months or years, your body will stop changing because you’ve stopped challenging it.
So, I’m throwing the gauntlet down – what are you going to do, learn, or challenge yourself with this month on a physical level? If you know your muscles are losing tone then you might need to do some serious weight training, or if you can barely tie your shoes laces without groaning – it’s time to start a daily yoga practice. Only you know what it needs to be for you.
For me? I’m going to dial up my cardio. I’m pretty strong, pretty flexible, but I’ve been neglecting my cardio, so I’ll pull out my rebounder, my kettle bells and my running shoes, and use a heart rate monitor to see where I am. I’ll let you know how I do.
Stay close to me on Facebook because I’m going to be posting dozens of daily tips, videos, articles and inspirations. Together we can inspire each other to move (literally move), to the next level. Time to dial it up!
