As a certified Holistic Nutritionist, it’s my opinion that you can dramatically affect the way you age by what you eat and drink. Here are my 10 Eating Tips to Help Keep You Young:

  1. Drink a juice or smoothie every morning stuffed filled of greens such as Romaine lettuce, spinach, cucumber, celery, parsley and mint. Minimize the fruit in your smoothie to reduce sugar consumption.
  2. Use sweeteners that won’t jack up your blood sugar such as Xylitol, Yacon Syrup, Stevia or Monk Fruit.
  3. Replace regular table salt with Himalayan Mineral Salt, which contains loads of minerals and is saltier than regular salt so you won’t use so much.
  4. Use coconut oil or Rice Bran oil for sauteing and frying. They are healthier and have higher smoke points.
  5. Increase the amount of fresh herbs you use, such as parsley, basil, mint, oregano and rosemary – they are nutritious and good for digestion.
  6. Choose healthy options when eating out such as Indian or Thai food, both of which offer loads of really delicious vegan options.
  7. Eat as much cinnamon as you can because it contains chromium, which helps with energy dips and sugar cravings.
  8. Eat at least one raw meal a day. This can be as simple as a large salad filled with as many different colors as you can find, such as beets, bell peppers, red cabbage etc.
  9. Try to eat sweet food and more carb-laden foods before 5pm in the evening.
  10. An alkaline body will lead to a younger/healthier body, which means that a primarily whole food plant based diet (no meat, dairy or processed foods), is the way to go.
