This DIY is a healthy alternative to talc. My DIY Lavender Body Powder can be dusted in and around any hot and sticky areas, nook or crannies! It will absorb unwanted wetness and odor. And it’ll keep you sweet smelling all Summer long – even when it’s super humid outside.
You can use a different herb and essential oil if you don’t like lavender. I do love to use lavender because it’s anti-bacterial. If you are making this for a baby, I would recommend leaving out the dried lavender flowers, and chamomile essential oil for the lavender essential oil.
I also love the combo of using dried roses and geranium essential oil. This is a very uplifting blend. Simply sub out the lavender flowers for dried rose buds, and use geranium essential oil in place of the lavender EO.
Why you should give it a go…
- It’s very inexpensive
- It’s healthy
- Smells lovely
- Last for up to a year
Ingredients
1 cup arrowroot powder
1 tbsp baking soda
2 tbsp of white clay
1/2 cup lavender buds*
50 drops lavender EO
*You can buy dried lavender buds online, or you can dry you own. If you do dry your own, make sure it is really dry before adding it to the mix! You can also substitute dried roses or dried chamomile (and add the corresponding essential oils).
Instructions
Place all the ingredients in a high speed blender or a food processor, and blend until the lavender buds are powdered (they kind of disappear).
Carefully spoon into a jar – Or even better, pour it into an old talc container (because of the sifter lid), or a sterilized (pop in a bowl of boiling water for a few seconds to sterilize), spice jar with sifter lid.
