Observation is one of the most powerful tools we have for mental and emotional health. When feelings arise, stay with them. Observe them. Notice that you want to put a judgment onto feelings; it is so common that we want to label some feelings bad, some feelings good.
Instead, imagine yourself as a larger and larger container in which to hold those feelings. Notice where the feeling is located in your body. Notice
the sensations that accompany the feeling. Let them rise and fall. Let them live and die in their own rhythm. Soon the pattern will become apparent.
Feelings arise, feelings subside. This is what happens. This is our nature. This is a constancy in human life. Gradually over time the need to judge your feelings will begin to lessen. Not only will this be beneficial and healthy for you, but also it will awaken compassion in you when you
observe the manifestation of feelings in others. And then you will experience more space and less reactivity around your feelings and the feelings of others.
So simple. So powerful.
