I took my family to see The Lorax this weekend and found it utterly enchanting. It’s definitely a must-see in 3D though, as it opens it up and works beautifully for many of the scenes. The theater was packed. On one side of us were an elderly couple and on the other side, a group of young kids – everyone seemed to delight in it, which is why it’s so clever. Although simplistic in its message (it is a children’s book), the movie is hugely entertaining for pretty much everybody – aged two and up.
I’m sure most of you have read the book, along with all the other Dr. Seuss classics, and know that a furry little guy called the Lorax, is the guardian of the trees. The theme of the story is that we’re destined for environmental disaster unless you and I do something about it – and of course, this is pretty much the message of Gorgeously Green too.
I’ve always passionately believed that unless every single one of us takes some kind of responsibility, in terms of protecting our precious biosphere, the things we dislike (bad air quality, water pollution, sickness etc.,) will not get better. Our health is one hundred percent dependent on a healthy planet. Without healthy air, soil and water, we haven’t got a hope.
What do you care most about? What are you trying to do today, to make a difference? The most off-putting thing for many of us when we’re trying to live a “greener” life, is that we try to do too much and set ourselves up for failure. Try taking baby steps instead. Today might be a day that you refuse to buy a single-use plastic water bottle and remember your travel bottle instead. Today might be a day that you take 10 seconds to take action by logging onto a fantastic site, such as NRDC to sign a petition. Today might be a day when you plant, as does the protagonist in The Lorax, a tree. There are so many easy choices to make and the key is to do just one of them today.
I believe every little baby step to help our environment makes a difference. Its all about shifting in our actions a bit of a time. Its being an example, and teaching our children how to care and respect our environment.Thank you Sophie for changing my life,I now always make a conscious choice about what I can do or not do thats healthy for our world!!
