A smoothie is the best way to get your fill of super foods and nutrients daily. I try to drink one every morning, but I do get tired of the same old recipe. So, in the past couple of days I’ve been on a mission to create a sweet and radically healthy smoothie.
The key is to have a bunch of super food powders on hand. I always keep the following in my cabinet: Chia seeds, ground flax seed, maca powder, greens (I use Power For Life), hemp protein powder, cinnamon, coconut oil.
The perfect smoothie for me is one that contains alkalizing ingredients (greens), omega’s (flax and chia), protein (hemp), and coconut oil (numerous benefits). The other ingredients are interchangeable.
Here’s my latest creation, which I’ll be drinking for while because it’s simply delicious. I make it in my Vitamix, and I have to say that this makes the whole thing a lot more doable because the powerful motor blends the kale and spinach up into a form that is totally unrecognizable ( I don’t love to see bits of kale in my smoothie – even specks!). If you are a smoothie-lover, I strongly suggest you invest in a Vitamix because it will change for life for the easier, plus you can make the most incredible soups without even having to cook the veggies at all!
I also drink my smoothie using my Glass Dhama straws, which I love because I don’t get a green moustache!
- 1 tbsp Power For Life
- 1 tbsp Maca powder
- 2 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp hemp protein powder
- 1/2 banana
- 1 fresh date
- 1 cup baby spinach leaves
- 1 cup kale
- 8 -ounces almond or hemp milk
- 1tbsp coconut oil
- pinch of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup crushed ice
Blend together and enjoy!!
