VIVO BAREFOOT EVO

If you like a running shoe, you simply have to try the Vivo Barefoot Running Shoe, which actually is the lightest running shoe on Earth. The “barefoot” running philosophy puts forth the argument that our naked feet are perfectly evolved to run and walk without the support of rubber, arch supports etc, and that if we train our feet to go naked, they will be much healthier and stronger in the long run.

I’m used to wearing a regular training shoe but was fascinated by this shoe because of it’s weight and also because the makers of the shoe, Terra Plana, are one of the most eco-friendly shoe companies that I know of. They look a little bit like a derivative of a croc and come in croc -like colors – mine are purple and yellow. They are arguably not the most sexy shoe on the planet, but they are eye-catching for sure.

The sole is a honeycomb of thin rubber that cannot be punctured. The interior of the shoe is a sweat-absorbing, anti-bacterial microfiber sock thing, which fits comfortably around your foot.

I loved that they feel so light. You actually do feel like running when you’ve got them on, which is amazing for me because I’m not a runner. I had a good, hard hike in them and my feet felt well exercised and great afterwards.

The biggest plus for me is that I travel quite a lot and I always want to take some running shoes with me so I can use the gym or slip out for a nice hike in the morning, however, it’s heavy & annoying to pack a pair of big running shoes in my carry-on.

So my Vivo Barefoot shoes will be traveling with me – a word of warning, as they don’t do half sizes, go for a size bigger if in doubt. I am typically a 37 1/2 and I’m really glad I went for a 38, as 37 would have been way too small.
