Hair dye has always been a dodgy area when it comes to being green. The harsh, toxic chemicals in many conventional dyes are pretty scary. Add to that, the scalp burning and unpleasant smell – ugh, not a pretty picture. However, don’t despair, I’ve come across and recently tested Tints Of Nature, and I’m pleasantly surprised.
Unlike most non-toxic dyes, this line offers a huge color range (platinum blonde to ebony black), so you’re not going to have to settle for that reddish “henna” look. Tints Of Nature has a soy protein base and uses certified organic ingredients. They don’t use harsh chemicals such as, resorcinol, nonoxynol, napthol, or amonia. They’ve also taken out parabens and propylene glycol.
Unlike most at home dyes that really sting your scalp, Tints Of Nature feels a lot more gentle. The result for me was excellent color (although I might tweak it a bit next time by combining a couple of shades), and a lot of shine.
You also get an excellent full-size shampoo and conditioner to keep your locks lustrous!
Did you find the colors to be true? With drugstore dyes the color always seems to come out 2 shades darker than what the box description says. I have to use dark blondes on my medium brown hair! Thanks.
Mary
Yes, I did find the colors to be relatively true. I’ve never used drug store dyes, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I think it’s pretty close to what is advertised on the box.
Sophie,
I hope you can help me. Since you have blonde hair, I don’t know if you are familiar with the solution to this problem. My hair is dark brown and I color it dark brown. My color always fades to red after a couple of weeks and continues to intensify in becoming more red as the weeks go on so when I can’t stand it at 6 weeks, I get it colored. This has happened when I used boxed hair colors and conventional salon hair colors and for the last three years with organic hair colors at my organic hair salon. We use Organic Color Systems hair color and I use their shampoos and conditioners. I’ve gotten so frustrated with the red happening that I have been growing out my color for the last 2 years. We just dye the ends to match my natural hair color. I could cut my hair off just above the shoulders and be done with the whole coloring, but I love my mid-back length hair. Also, my hair is getting more and more grays so at some point I will have to color the whole head again. Any suggestions for a color that lasts 4-6 weeks? Whenever I ask women with beautiful dark hair, they are always using something toxic and I don’t want to do that. Help. I am so frustrated.
Do you know if Tints Of Nature is a safe alternative for pregnant women?
