Buying a mattress can be a nightmare. When my husband and I were in the market for a new mattress 15 years ago, I cannot tell you how annoying the entire experience was. Not to mention, horribly expensive. So, when it came to looking for a new mattress for my 17 year-old daughter, I took a big breath. Things were made slightly easier because I knew I wanted an eco-friendly mattress made from non-toxic materials, however, I shuddered at the potential sticker shock.
I did a LOT of research, and asked around the green community here in Los Angeles. I kept getting referred back to a Saatva mattress. It seemed that everyone who owned a Saatva mattress was absolutely thrilled. And I was delighted when I checked out their website because the price was literally a third of some of the other organic mattress brands that I had my eye on. I needed a queen mattress for my daughter’s bed, who will be going away to college inside of the next year, so I really didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg.
Fast-forward, having made my decision, a Saatva Luxury Firm mattress arrived at my home (white glove delivery), ten days after ordering it. And it’s GORGEOUS! It’s literally the perfect comfort level. My husband (who is ridiculously mattress-picky), tested it out first and said he wished we had one for our bed too. It’s as good as the best hotel mattress you’ve ever slept on…seriously. You get to pick from 3 different comfort levels, and unless you want a super soft or super firm feel, I highly recommend going with the Luxury Firm. My daughter is on love with her new bed.
So, a few Saatva details: It’s made in the U.S. They use a coil-on-coil technology, which is apparently what you need to ensure that when your partner moves, the whole mattress doesn’t! The coils are made from recycled steel. The memory foam does not off-gas any chemicals, and is eco-friendly. The natural thistle barrier meets flame retardant standards, without the usual chemical cocktail involved. The plush pillow top is made from organic cotton. And best of all, the price is right. Our queen mattress was a little over a thousand bucks, and I went into this thinking we’d be looking at 3k.
So, happy customer all the way around. Do remember, that your mattress is one of the most important investments you can make for your home. You spend half your life on it, right? You deserve to have luxurious one…you really do.
