The winner of the Brilliant Earth Giveaway is Tamra.
I take a daily walk in a local city park that was made with low impact development techniques. There is a restored weland and a community garden. I love taking a moment to listen to the birds and other sounds of nature and smelling the plants and outdoors. The sounds and smells of nature brings a sense of peace.
I take my boys outside in what we refer to as our little suburban woods and we talk about all the different woodland creatures that live along side of us. It would be wonderful to have products made from nature that nurture my aging skin — why do I have acne in my mid-40s??
I like to garden in my yard at least once a week, take a daily walk in the hills with my crazy dog and keep a healthy home by making my own organic cleansers and feeding my family healthy foods. I also like to meditate in my garden and thank the universe for my great life.
I try to buy organic fruits & vegetables as much as possible. In addition, I try to stick with what’s in season and buy from local farmers. Thanks!
I studied geology so have always been connected to the “earth”. I can always get out my rock collection or look at my crystal collection.
In this day and age it seems very hard to stay connected to the earth. Life goes by at such a fast pace that you really have to stop and make the time to get reconnected. For me i like to be outside working in my yard. I can’t wait for next spring when i can attempt to garden and get my hands into the earth!
I buy natural cleaning products and laundry detergent. I also make sure my skin products are natural and when possible organic.
Each day I take a walk and take in the beauty of the earth and think of ways that I can become a better habitant.
I’m a outdoor walker when it comes to exercise. I also love to plant flowers and vegetables during the various seasons.
My girls (age 4 and 7) and I have an organic garden every year. We start everything from seeds and watch them grow. We fertilize with our compost from our composter. This gives me ALL sorts of opportunities to talk about and connect with nature. Watching things grow and reproduce from the ground, watching “garbage” turn into one of the best things in the world for our plants, and talking about the worms and how beneficial they are. I also make sure they take time to look at all the life that lives on and in our garden. Even the things that eat some of our veggies are fascinating and wonderful in there own way. They have a purpose and they are beautiful. At the park we lay on a bench and close our eyes and just listen. This can be very connecting to the earth and nature as well, as long as it’s quiet.
I take a nice walk around the neighborhood each day. I also line-dry all my laundry in the fresh air and sunshine!
I stay connected to the earth by many things: Meditation, hugging trees, taking walks through the forest, watching the stars, laying in the grass, etc.
Highly recommended!!
Thank you for this giveaway 🙂
I keep connected to the earth by taking deep breaths and stopping to smell the flowers.
We stay connected to the earth by buying local produce when available, by supporting local farmer’s markets, by recycling, by reusing items when possible, by gardening (flowers, food, herbs, etc.), and by enjoying every space of the developed and undeveloped lands.
I try. I try to teach my kids to recycle. I try to teach my husband why the end of the toilet paper roll is recycleable too! I try to remember who we’re leaving the world to. I try to buy organic and seasonal produce. I’m not perfect… but, I just try.
By treating the earth better, I feel more connected to it – gardening, composting, recycling, freecycling, buying used instead of new, and for me the most precious is taking the path less traveled. The knowledge that my children know how to tread lightly with their footprints…what a nice feather in my cap.
Staying connected is keeping my hands in it. We live in a suburb that is very much “in the country” we try to soak up as much of it as we can. The dirty hands are worth it for the connectivity.
We try to go outside as much as possible, even in the snow we are getting right now. My middle son (age 4) attends a “environmentally and nature” based preschool called little seedlings, where they spend an hour outside every day in the woods, exploring, learning about tree’s, leaves, hawks, ants and lucky me on my day to attend even a garter snake!!! Inside they still focus on nature, recycling and even vermi-composting! While he’s in preschool I often walk the trails of the woods with my 6 month old in my Beco baby carrier on my back! He loves to see all the beautiful colors and sleeps so well after all the fresh air. Of course we now have a house full of pine cones and acorns that the kids love to collect.
Sadly, I am not as connected as I’d like to be. I’m a nature girl. I’ve been known to hug trees, and nothing makes me feel more connected to the earth than just being in the quiet of nature somewhere in the mountains. Now that I’m a city dweller and new mom with no car, and the best I can do to stay connected is continue to recycle, not eat meat and I maintain an eco blog that makes me feel that I am connecting and connecting others to the earth.
I stay connected to the earth through meditation and yoga. I love nothing more in the summer then to do yoga on the beach, with the waves gently splashing on my toes.
I stay connected to the earth by growing and preserving some of our food. And when you grow food, you care for the land year ’round, not just during growing season.
My Grandmother has been such an amazing inspiration in my life. She was “green” before the term was even coined. My Grandmother believes that the farther we get away from the Earth, the less humane we become. My interests in gardening, eating whole foods, and botanical medicine keep me connected to both the Earth and to the strong, amazing woman who continues to inspire me.
I have been staying connected to the Earth this winter so far by buying most organic foods and other products as well as recycling. I would love to get out more but it has been -15 all week, isn’t exactly easy to get out with a baby. Can’t wait for the summer:)
Spending time with the cats & kittens in the backyard just watching & listening to nature is one of the best ways to stay connected to the eart.
Spending time outside in my garden. I still feel connected to the earth when I come inside bearing wonderful fresh veggies.
I hike as often as I can with four dogs I have adopted from various rescue groups over the last six years. We explore all the beautiful trails and beaches of the Western States. I also already use natural and organic beauty products that I find in health food stores and online (thanks to Gorgeously Green!) to help protect my skin while being outdoors so much. I have not heard of the Primavera line and look forward to trying it!
I walk daily…rain, shine or snow. Also in the Spring time I spend a great amount of time out in the woods that surround my house.

I stay connected to the earth by gardening, hiking, and including my kids so they will enjoy the earth as well.
