This time of year, the fleas really get going and love to nest in any form of fur that they can find. Unfortunately many commercial anti-flea products can leave behind a chemical residue on your pet’s fur, which can cause damage to the brain and nervous system of small children and your pet. Some of these chemicals are also carcinogenic. Sign this important petition, asking PetCo and PetSmart to stop selling these dangerous products. So what’s the safe choice for a Gorgeously Green pet? Well Phoebe, my scraggy Maltese, and all her neighborhood friends are now on the “Do It Gorgeously” anti-flea regimen, which is super-effective and will have your pooch smelling fresh, minty & divine! Let’s look at my 8 Top Flea Prevention Tips:1. A healthy diet is imperative, because a healthy pet can repel fleas and ticks naturally. Pick either a premium organic canned food, or a raw food diet (although when I buy the raw food, I very slightly cook it to avoid parasites). Best choice is to make your own dog food. I mix organic ground meat, with some veggies and organic brown rice – my husband cannot believe that Phoebe gets to eat this way!! “She’s a dog!” However, what he doesn’t realize is that princess Phoebe, like every member of our family, gets fed nothing but the best – preventative health care 101!
2.Vacuum your home daily in the summer – especially if you have long-haired pets.
3.Wash pet bedding in very hot water once a week.
5. In the summer, keep your pets away from tall grass and foliage, as that’s how ticks get onto their fur.
6. Sprinkle some diatomaceous earth over areas of your home that concern you, and all over your yard. It is a fine powdery substance, which causes fleas and ticks to dehydrate and die.
7. Make a bottle of the Do It Gorgeously Flea Spray and apply every other day.
8. Bath your dog weekly as follows in this video.Above all remember that if you spray any pesticide in or around your home, you are putting yourself and your family at risk. With a little care and attention, you can totally control pet fleas before they get out of control.
