The winner of the Wear Your Intention Giveaway is Comment #35 Dawn Hornberger
This season I am reducing waste by giving more gift cards. I also always save the ribbons and wrapping if possible from the gifts we receive and reuse
I am taking old milk cartons and old cereal boxes and making Christmas decorations with my nieces instead of going out and buying new ones. It saves money, and the environment and is fun for the whole family!
So nice of you to have a green giveaway for the holidays!
What beautiful cards! These would be a perfect addition to my eco-friendly Christmas. Not only am I purchasing only eco-friendly products but I am also only buying local this year. It has made shopping a challenge but oh so rewarding. It really makes you appreciate where you come from and all of the hardworking people who are doing their part for the environment. This would be an amazing prize to win!
We make gift bags every year for friends and family. We start with a reusable grocery bag they can use all year long and fill it with homemade goodies. This year we are filling them with homemade peppermint lip balm where some of the ingredients like the bees wax from old candles have been reused. In the bag they will also find homemade lavender linen spray with the recipe on the bottle so they can continue to use and enjoy. We are also including a vegetarian chilly recipe with all the contents needed in a reused and reusable masons jar. They always enjoy the thought and time we spend putting these together and it always spins into a conversation that green living does not have to be expensive and can be beautiful.
I`m hosting green christmas parties!! Evites, Carpool organzation & easy public transit for guests, local beer and locally grown organic dishes! And we`re having a gift swap! All gifts must be something you already had at home!
I’m not buying as many gifts, so I won’t be using that much gift wrap in the first place. What gifts I am giving, I try to use the gift bags, rather than wrapping paper, so that the bags can be reused.
This year we sent out an adorable e-card to everyone and with the money we would normally spend on cards and postage we made a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, our favorite charity. I also do not have a lot of gifts to wrap but for birthdays any holiday gifts that will fit I buy a reusable shopping bag and give it as a gift bag and that way the recipeint can use it over and over when they shop.
This year I’m reducing, reusing, and recycling in the following ways:
For those people I giving gifts to, I am trying to include products from local businesses. For instance, a great local farmer makes honey, beeswax candles, and lip balm. So, I’m creating gifts for my mom and sisters.
Speaking of gift bags. I have some shopping bags from a recent shopping trip where I forgot my reusables ๐ณ So, I plan on cutting those and using them for wrapping paper. I have a TON of gifts bags that past gifts came in, so I’m reusing those.
I’m also sending e-cards instead of regular ones.
We are donating jackets to Coats for Kids, clothes and household items to the local thrift store and I always think of creative ways to wrap gifts without using paper.
As a newly married couple my husband and I would LOVE to send out these eco-friendly christmas cards to make a statement about the kind of couple we are ๐ Adorable and all for doing better for our environment ~ just like these cards from the Greenfield Paper Company! yay!
I save all of my kids’ art throughout the year (BTW – this is A LOT of art!) and use it to wrap gifts. The kids are proud to share their talent and people absolutely LOVE it!
I’ve been recycling for years & my favorite way is to use last years xmas cards from friends on my packages for THIS year – which are wrapped in recycled paper or newspaper. (gift bags are always reused in our house!)
To follow the 3 Rs, we’re selling and buying on Ebay and Craiglist instead of looking for new items. This has been so successful. We’re also using our stored away fabric to make gifts such as drawstring bags, coin purses, and tote bags. This year, many of our gifts will be wrapped in Christmas fabric scraps instead of paper.
Oops..clicked too quickly. Forgot to add that we save the Christmas cards we receive and use the fronts of them for gift tags the following year. Many of them can be cut down and used for 2 gifts! We haven’t bought a gift bag in at least 5 years because we re-use them. With our immediate family, we even re-use the gift tags!
would be simply wonderful to have ans send out these
I used greeting cards printed on recycled paper.
I made my own christmas cards this year with paper I have had for years. I also plan on being creative when it comes to the wrapping part of the season like using old newspaper or anything else i can get a hold of. And I am making stocking stuffers this year and putting them in glass bottles that I have been saving throughout the year. Just wish your DIY book was out already! ๐
I reuse gift wrap, ribbon and bows whenever I can. I even save unconventional items if I think I can dress up a package with them. My budget to buy gift wrap items is almost zero because of this and I make some pretty good looking packages if I do say so myself!
I use last year’s cards to make this year’s gift tags, I used reusable bags as gift bags, and I try to save any paper that I get a gift wrapped in.
I have to say that I am still a HUGE fan of handwritten christmas cards, so what a great giveaway for me!
I am working in the 3 R’s by reusing most of my wrapping paper and bags that I received previous years, buying some items from the Goodwill Store because lately I have found brand new items there still with the tags on, and most of all I am encouraging my family to remember the 3 R’s and hoping that I am setting a great example for them to follow.
Great way to share your statement about being green with others ๐ I would enjoy trying this product. I currently recycle cards by tearing off the cover and any relevant “inside” saying and creatively placing it on another sheet of cardstock w/additional stickers or prints. Always fun to create something new using the “old.”
I typically send out an e-card that I create myself instead of using paper so that I don’t waste, but I’ve seen her recycled cards before and they are adorable!
I am doing my best this holiday season to “re-use, recycle, and reduce” by making natural home made soaps and bath goodies as gifts, and instead of using paper to wrap them in I’m using fabric from clothing I no longer wear. I’m also sending e-cards (mostly from elf-yourself.com!) and cutting back on heat in these cold months by bundling up!
cheers ๐
I too, send out more e cards instead of paper cards.I also am giving more home made gifts
