I love a good story behind a business. It helps remind you that great ideas come from humble beginnings.  Elizabeth Grant’s story is just that; a simple story about a woman who discovered and created her own solution to a personal problem and became widely successful for taking a risk. Elizabeth Grant’s skin was damaged in World War 2 in London, and she was embarrassed by the lines and change in her face. That is when she discovered kelp to treat war wounds, and decided to make her own concoction in 1948 from natural ingredients. Her skin became glowing, improved elasticity, and evened out the damaged skin. She shared her secret cream with a friend and from there it was history, she started her own business in London in 1958 and has been running her skincare line ever since.

I recently got to try the new Organics serum from Elizabeth Grant. A very potent mixture of natural anti-aging ingredients form this thin liquid which I applied before moisturizing each night. One main ingredient is the dormant bulb of the Narcissus Flower (Ever heard the Greek tale about Narcissus? He stared at his beautiful face for so long in a body of water that he turned into a flower, which always grows right next to the water). The other key ingredients are algae extract,  Argan Oil and Elizabeth’s own Torricelumn complex, which is the basis for her success.

Kelp forests are a presence here in Southern California of course, but many would not think that the extract from these underwater tentacle-like plants would hold the key to elasticity in skin! The kelp is so resilient from the constant tides, and the time of new growth is when Elizabeth Grant takes the extract from the bulbs that float on the top of the water. These bulbs hold properties similar to human plasma, which helps the sea nutrients be properly absorbed into the skin. Amazing stuff!
