Arcona

Skin Care by Arcona is a firm favorite of mine because it’s an entirely clean/non-toxic line, however, every product is truly therapeutic, meaning the ingredients actively work to change the texture of your skin. The Los Angeles based company was started by the Chemist Arcona in the 1980s and was well ahead of its time in creating holistic skincare that delivered therapeutic results. Skin Care by Arcona is now a big deal in Los Angeles and has a huge following. Having recently tried the line, I’m really impressed.

The philosophy of the line is that you work out what your “Daily 5” products are and then replace your entire regime with these 5 products for the first few weeks. It’s easy to figure out which ones you need and to get started. The products feel really light on your skin, so if you’re used to heavy moisturizers, this is a very different feel. I love the Ozone Sunscreen. It’s apparently an SPF 40 – it’s pretty light and is slightly tinted so you don’t look like a clown after application. I also love the Toner Tea Bar Cleanser, which is like a round bar of facial soap, which cleanses the skin beautifully without drying it out at all, and at the same time acts as a toner.

Arcona “The Solution” pads are pretty amazing. You use them 2-4 times a week and they work to “re-surface” your skin, in the way that a glycolic peel or a retinol product would.

This product is recommended for oily, acne-prone or skin that has been sun/environmentally damaged – the latter would be me. Talk about sun damage – as teenagers in the UK, as soon as the sun came out, we’d slather ourselves in baby oil and lie on sheets of aluminum foil. In the winter, we’d bake ourselves to a crisp under tanning beds – bring “The Solution” on!
