It’s Your Party …

It's Your Party ...

bead-for-life-400It’s party time ladies! As we gear up for the Holidays, we are decorating our homes and beginning to get all festive – so why not do something ridiculously positive to give back to women who may be less fortunate than you? Why not host a BeadFor Life party at your home, which is not only super-fun, but will also enable your friends and family to be able to stock up on beautiful  Holiday gifts.

Here’s the deal:  I got involved with BeadForLife because I met some of the ladies from Uganda, whose lives have been completely changed by BeadForLife – women who formerly lived in abject poverty with no means of making any kind of living. These women had been given a major leg up by the organizers of BeadForLife, who created this organization to help these women sell their gorgeous beads.

I feel passionate about this organization because it’s a win win. Not only do we get to enjoy the beautiful beads that these women create, but we also get to help in more ways than we could ever imagine.

etanas, pumpkins, imaras, oh myThe beads themselves are STUNNING. They are made out of rolled paper – but the finished bead is a hard and shiny jewel. This process requires enormous patience and skill, but these Ugandan women are passionate about what they do, and they’re not afraid of hard work. If you take a look at some of the collection, you’ll see that’s there’s a huge variety to choose from.

Back to the party thing. You – yes YOU can host a party in the next couple of weeks. I hosted one a couple of weeks ago at my home and it was a blast. This is how easy it was:

1. Sign up to host a party.

2. Receive an enormous box of jewelry.

3. Send out an evite to your friends and family (I used Paperless Post to create a super- pretty invite).

4. If you’ve got a lot on your plate, make it Pot Luck, or keep the drinks and snacks simple. I created a Sunday afternoon tea party. I served iced green tea with homemade cakes and cookies.

I also got them to count the inventory and take payment (BeadFo Life will provide you with a Square), so it was an extremely educational and fun experience for them (They even earned service hours for their school.)

And that’s it ladies! When you’re done, you send unsold inventory back to Bead For Life.

Another popular way to do this is not a party at all, but simply getting a Party-to-Go bag filled with beaded items and shea butter products that you can carry with you to your office, book club, school, church, or gathering. Sell beads when it is convenient. Or, host a more traditional party in your home or office. They make it fun and easy and there is no cost to you.

The hardworking women in Uganda rely on these Holiday parties to be able to feed their families – so peleeeeeeze step up to the plate and host a party. It doesn’t matter if it’s  or 5 guests, or if you want to open your home to hundreds – every bit counts.
