Just About everyone I know has some kind of sniffle right now! Ranging from a mild cold to a full-on flu, it’s just that time of year. So how can the Gorgeously Green girl best deal with keeping the germs at bay? I would highly suggest you stay away from “anti-bacterial” products because many of them contain Triclosan, which is a toxic chemical. Moreover the overuse of antibacterials have paved the way for some pretty scary superbugs. The best solution is to either use Tea Tree Oil and/or Hydrogen Peroxide.Tea Tree oil is from the Australian Tea Tree bush and is routinely used in Aussie hospitals to combat germs and keep the deadly strain of MRSA at bay. You can buy food grade hydrogen peroxide at your local grocery store, which is totally eco-friendly and is one of the best germ busters ever. Why not make a little germ-busting spray: Buy a sprayer (needs to be opaque as hydrogen peroxide is light sensitive), add 1 cup of water, 1 cup of peroxide and 20 drops of tea tree oil. Spray on counter tops, door knobs, telephones or anywhere that you think germs may have gathered. For on the go, I love the hand sanitizer called Clean George or EO Sanitizing Wipes, which you can find at most health food stores.
