DOING IT YOURSELF!

I have just finished re-caulking my bath tub with non-toxic grout, and I couldn’t be more proud of myself! I saved a wad of cash, which will go towards a pair of vegan shoes I’ve got my eye on, and having mastered that simple task, I now feel a few more summer projects coming on. The past few weeks have been a blast, as I’ve spring-cleaned my entire home with products from my new book, Do It Gorgeously – How to Make Less Toxic, Less Expensive, and More Beautiful Products .
All my carpets and upholstery has been cleaned and deodorized, my furniture is gleaming by way of my “Citrus Furniture Polish”, blinds are dust-free and even Phoebe (the dog), has been lathered, fluffed up and is totally flea-resistant, having been sprayed with my non-toxic “Anti-flea Spray”.  I never do anything by half, so even my trusty old Prius got a full-on going over. I swear that birds look for clean/shining cars to do their business on! The day after this detailing extravaganza, the car was clearly a bird’s toilet for the day – a big bird too! However, I got home, grabbed the trusty detailing spray I’d made the day before and all was well.

It’s satisfying to make your own products for so many reasons: I get to know exactly what’s in these potions, have fun making them, and most importantly, save a lot of money. Hellllllooooooo – who wants to spend their hard-earned cash on cleaning products??

Tonight I plan to Spring Clean myself with my DIY facial regime (AHA Skin-lightening Mask, Vitamin C Serum, and Restorative Facial Oil) – heaven!

  1. Sophie, I have your first two books and cannot wait for the third! 🙂 Thank you so much for all of your guidance!

  2. Do you know the best way to clean mildew off of the caulk? I have a client who wants me to clean theirs but with a product that contains, bleach. I taught them how as a company I made the choice not to use that. But need to find something else. Thanks!

  3. Sophie,

I’m trying to make your all purpose cleaner and I can’t find the washing soda crystals. I live in LA, where can I find them? I’ve got all the rest of the ingredients, and can’t wait to make it! Thanks!
