I always use aromatherapy to de-stress – always have done, and always well. This is the beauty of pure essential oils – they work therapeutically on your limbic system to significantly reduce stress levels. I love to experiment with different blends, depending on the kind of stress that I might be going through. But, for this DIY, I am giving you a generic blend, which works really well for almost everyone. I think you are going to love my DIY de-stress aromatherapy rollerball. You can pop it in your purse and apply to your wrists, temples and behind your ears throughout the day.
Remember that you need to get really good quality oils. For this recipe I have used organic oils from Veriditas, a company that I love. When you buy a bottle of pure essential oil, think of it like a mini investment: You will only be using a few drops per recipe, and your oil will last for up to 2 years. I have chosen essential oils, which you can also use in a variety of other DIY projects. So, once you have your oils, just store them in a cool, dark cabinet. I keep all mine in a huge wooden chest.
Ingredients:
- 10 ML (1/3 OZ) dark glass rollerball (I got mine in a pack of 6, which is great because I’ll make them for my friends while I’m at it).
- 1/3 OZ pure jojoba oil
- 40 drops lemon essential oil
- 6 drops lavender essential oil
- 15 drops neroli essential oil
Instructions:
- Mix the essential oils into the jojoba oil. I use a tiny measuring cup with a mini spout, so I can pour directly into bottle with no spillage.
- Shake gently before use.
- Apply to your wrists, temples, the skin behind your ears, and even on the soft skin between your toes.
Safety tip: If you are not used to using essential oils, I recommend you do a little patch test before rubbing it all over yourself! Simply rub a little of each oil onto your inner arm. Cover with a band aid, and leave for 12 hours. If there is no redness or swelling, you are good to go.
