I love a tangy BBQ Sauce, and this is my family’s favorite. I use it liberally with grilled veggies and tofu. It’s also the most amazing tofu marinade for baked tofu. I’ve tried to keep it as low in sugar as possible, but it does contain honey. If you are diabetic, replace the honey with Xylitol.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 32 ounce bottle organic tomato ketchup
- 1 cup Yakon Syrup
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup raw honey
- 1 tablespoon vegan Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon celery seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
