Oooooh, I love to talk about beauty products! Here’s a few tips for step two: Always read the ingredient list on any product you buy. Without further ado, :
- Parabens (methyl-, ethyl-, propyl-, butyl-, and isobutyl-)
- Fragrance
- Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)
- Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate (SLES)
- DEH, DEA, MEA, TEA & DEA
- Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (Quats)
- Carbomer 934, 940, 941, 960, 961C
- Talc
Check pages 22-27 of Gorgeously Green for more detailed information about which ingredients to avoid. You can also visit Cosmetics Database and enter a product or brand to check out its Environmental Working Group hazard rating.
I regularly review different green products, so keep checking in.

I make most of my skin care products and also LOVE Young Living’s skin/body care products. Please go to my website http://www.YoungLiving.org/Mary
DiDonna to check out our products. It’s incredible that so many people are totally unaware of the chemicals that are added to all the “stuff” we use. My goal is to educate as many people on going “green”, as possible. In health..MKD

I love lush products! My skin has been fantastic since I started using them. http://www.lush.ca
I am admittedly biased as I have my own company but referring to the previous comment, as a customer I used to be a huge Lush fan but they recently changed their formula so their gorgeous bar soaps contain SLS and many of their products contain fragrance/perfume. Bummer! Great list! Just shared this with everyone I know on FB :c)
I make organic soaps and I use fragrance oil but they are phthalates free, are they still safe to use?
Love this post, love this blog, love you!
I own an all natural, organic and cruelty free makeup line, and like you I’m very passionate about spreading the “green” word to people.
There are so many mixed messages out there, it’s good to have an authority telling people in a fun and sexy way how to better themselves and the planet.
Green doesn’t have to mean “crunchy!”
