I’ve found that there are a few items that are absolute must-have’s to get me through the Holiday season successfully. Here are my top five.
1. A hot glue gun: Much can be done with a glue gun. My life changed when I got mine. I just purchased a rather boring-looking wreath from Trader Joe’s – as soon as I got home, I whipped out my hot glue gun and now it’s festooned with ribbons and all sorts of bits and pieces that I found in the bottom of my “Holiday Box.” I also love to over-decorate gifts with my gun, too! Oh, and if you already own one, check it’s in working order.
2. Reels of Ribbon: You can’t have too much ribbon for wrapping your gifts, decorating wreaths, garlands and even table settings. With you ribbon and hot glue gun, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with!
3. Gift Bags: Gift bags, as opposed to wrapping paper, are the eco friendly way to go because they can be re-used by the recipients multiple times. I’ve used the same bags for about 5 years now for my family. I just tie on new labels. You can find great gift bags at the dollar store, and you should get stocked up now before the rush.
4. Tissue Paper: Although I try to live without tissue paper (for obvious green reasons,) there are times when you really need it wrap around your gift in your gift bag. Now is the time to load up with eco friendly tissue paper.
5. Hand Sanitizer: As I was going shopping today, I heard so many people sniffing and coughing. Yes – it’s cold and flu season. Make sure you are armed with a miniature hand sanitizer at all times. Granted, hand washing with hot water and soap is the best, but you need a mini-sanitizer in your purse as you go about your day. Remember many hand sanitizers contain toxic chemicals including triclosan, so look for an eco-friendly alternative. I love the new Method Home mini hand sanitizers, and EO.
