There are no shortcuts to getting a great body – or your BEST body. It requires hard work, but this hard work can be made easier with by following my 3 tricks, which have always worked gangbusters for me.
- You need a killer playlist. When I have a crazy good playlist, time flies by and I can physically accomplish exercises and endurance feats that I never thought possible. However creating a playlist can sometimes be a load of work, so try out this awesome free MP3 download from my great buddy Erin Stutland. If you haven’t heard about Erin, you need to. Her online workouts and audio downloads trick me into a workout that I barely knew happened because I was having so much fun!
- Change It Up: I promise you that if you do the same workout day-in-day-out, you will not see results because you body kind of just starts hanging out with what it’s found to be comfortable. Unless your muscles are burning/shaking, or unless you are raising your heart rate, you are not training or challenging yourself, and your body will not change. Sometimes just switching to working a different set of muscles, or working them in a different way will do the trick. If you do pilates or yoga everyday, try throwing in a 10-minute kettle bell workout, and your muscles won’t know what’s hit them!
- Getting your best body is a holistic endeavor. It’s a lifestyle, not a series of quick fixes. This is why you can’t expect to do 50 thousand crunches, eat a pint of Ben & Jerry’s, and then wonder why you’re not seeing a six -pack. Listen up ladies, the trick to gorgeous bod is to eat a primarily Whole Food Plant Based Diet, workout every single day (even if it’s just a hike), and love yourself for who you are and where you are now. Even if you’re 100 pounds heavier than you want to be right now, treat yourself with love and compassion, not punishment. Getting your best body happens one day at a time and is all about loving yourself enough to want to keep the vehicle that is taking your through this life, in tip top condition.
Important: Before you start any kind of rigorous workout program, or change up what you are doing, ALWAYS check with your health care practitioner first (unless you are an uber workout girl). It’s prudent to have your labs and heart checked before you embark on a new fitness regime. If you are out of shape, you may need to start a little more slowly – and your doc can advise you accordingly.
